SUPER SNAZZY BLUE CASSETTE EDITION!
Melbourne/Naarm duo Fountain Lakes are Jac Tonks and Emma Heeney. This August they release their debut EP, Junkyard of Lost Hearts. The four-song collection moves between indie folk, dream pop and country, with intertwined vocals, shimmering guitars and spacious arrangements that are laid back, sweet and full of regret.
Written during a songwriting retreat in a converted church in country Victoria and recorded with Roger Bergodaz at Union Street Studios, the EP features long-time collaborators Nick O'Mara (Raised by Eagles/Amarillo), Mark Monnone (Monnone Alone, ex-The Lucksmiths) and Gus Franklin (Smallgoods, Monnone Alone).
“Harmonies like honey, gentle strumming of angels, utterly mesmeric!” ****½ Kath Deveney, ABC Radio
"..pairing shimmering melodies with a sense of calm momentum that feels both deeply felt and effortlessly light.” - Happy Mag
"..a duo with a distinctly adventurous creative spirit.." - Bruce Baker, AU Review
“Just when you think that all of the great chorus one-liners are taken, Fountain Lakes find a corker with, ‘I don’t even cheat in dreams’. It is not wasted on them with their transcendent harmonies and deft song structure. They are gorgeously clever in every way!” Angie Hart (Frente)
